Iran’s national standard No.586 called “brake lining, characteristics and test methods” which includes compulsory standard regulations was first codified in 1985. This standard was revised for a second time based on the suggestions received and investigated by the corresponding standard organization and finally confirmed and approved by the related commission in 7/03/2010. The objective sought in codifying such a standard was the determination of the brake lining characteristics including the friction coefficient, abrasion, dimensional possibilities, heat effect and sampling methods, test methods, labeling and packing.

ISIRI 3005 (Iran’s standard)

Iran’s national standard No.3005 called “Automobile-Clutch facing- characteristics and test methods” which includes compulsory standard regulations was first codified in 1988. The obligations issued in Iran’s national standard No.586 have been formulated based upon the various standards including SAE J661.

ISIRI 2798 (Iran’s standard)

Iran’s national standard NO.2798 titled “brake lining, shear strength test method for the brake pads and brake lining collections” which includes the compulsory standard regulations was first codified in 1987. The standard was revised for a second time based on the received suggestions and surveys performed by Iran’s standard national organization and the corresponding commission and it was finally approved in 16/12/2013. The objective sought in codifying the standard was the determination of a method for measuring the adhesive strength between the lining material and its back plate in brake pad (and its shoe in brake shoe (shear bond strength). This standard applies to the collections that are manufactured and casted in an integrated manner or in collections where a mechanical stopping system is used in brake pads.
